When you bring together some of the most influential names in dance music you are bound to create something extraordinary and that is precisely what the UK’s own dance music figurehead MistaJam has been able to achieve in collaboration with David Guetta & John Newman. He now releases his own rework of ‘If You Really Love Me (How Will I Know)’, aimed squarely at the nation’s dancefloors available now via Warner/Parlophone.
Since its release the original three-way collaboration has clocked over 60 million combined streams to date and 47 million views on Tik Tok. It also broke into the UK Top 40 and topped playlists across all major streaming platforms.
The new remix slots perfectly into MistaJams festival and club sets, bursting with energy, he combines driving bass, sweeping breaks, euphoria inducing drum rolls and dramatic drops to great effect. This is a track designed for maximum reaction, in whatever setting it is dropped. Additionally, the package comes with an extended mix for that pure dancefloor vibe as he puts his own spin on the single.
Making the remix gave me the chance to give the record a fresh perspective using John Newman’s vocal as another dimension, kind of like an extra instrument in the mix. I took this train of thought forward, thinking about the clubs myself and David Guetta would play at and decided to beef the drums up. – MistaJam
MistaJam is one of the UK’s national treasures, a broadcaster and DJ who was at the forefront of breaking new records for a decade and a half on BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra with his ‘Dance Anthems’ show. More recently he’s made the switch to Capital Radio where continues to push forward the next generation of artists, consistently breaking new tracks across the Capital and Capital Dance networks.
I took a lot of inspiration from a mixture of some of my favourite House remixes of all time. I wanted to channel the vibe I felt coming from some of my heroes like Todd Terry, MK, Roger Sanchez, Kenny Dope and Louie Vega to name but a few. This version is built to be played as loud as possible and with the bass on 11 and the drums driving the peak time 1am dancefloor energy I see at my shows –

With further imminent support across the nation’s airwaves and club DJs, there is also an official ‘behind the scenes video’ ready to drop showing never before been seen footage of the making of the original video in Kent, England which featured MistaJam alongside David Guetta and John Newman. Look out for the further remixes from David Guetta and Morten (Future Rave Remix) and Marten Horger.
